OUR CARE SERVICES

Assisted Living
Somerford House assisted living provides residents with supervision or assistance with the activities of daily life. Assisted living residents are those who do not need skilled nursing care, but may need help with some aspects of daily life such as monitoring of health, safety, and overall well-being, assistance with medication, or assistance with personal care such as dressing and grooming.

At Somerford House in Newark, Deleware, assisted living residents live in their own private apartment within our community so that they have the support and services they need, while continuing to be as independent and active as possible.

Alzheimer’s Care
At Somerford Place, our unique approach to caring for residents with Alzheimer’s or memory loss includes helping each person to continue engaging in activities and with others, to rediscover skills and interests, and to reach their highest potential at that moment, whatever it may be.

Along with providing daily living assistance and coordinating any necessary medical care, we are dedicated to addressing our residents’ cognitive needs. Each staff member at Somerford Place receives intensive training specifically in Alzheimer’s care.

Short-term Stays
We also offer short-term stays at both Somerford House and Somerford Place for seniors in the Newark, Delaware area who need care after a hospital stay, or when their caregiver travels out of town or simply needs a short respite from the stresses of caregiving.

Short-term stays can vary from a week to months. Short-term guests enjoy housekeeping services, dining, community activities, transportation and other amenities, as well as coordination of any necessary medical care and help with daily living activities.
